Transmission problem
1996 Cadillac Deville 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 72.297 miles

son had his transmission repaired in a 96 cadlilac deville, now we have discovered that the wrong bolt was installed and cause the engine block to crack, we took it to another mechanic and this gentle stated that it is a techincal service bulletin out on how to properly installed this bolt, and if put in wrong it will cause the engine block to crack, do you know of such bulletin, this is a north star engine, we are having a hard time getting AAMCO to admit the technician who installed the bolt he installed it wrong.

Not familiar with any TSB on bolts that will crack engine block. My guess is they forced the issue and tried to pull the transmission on with a dowel out of place, or the torque converter not fully installed, until something gave. Have them give you a GM bulletin # and I will gladly research it. I usually don't check my files until the evening, but have access to service info at home. There is a total of four bolts that mate the engine to the transmission, three have 18mm heads and are longer than the fourth, and it has a 15mm head. If you could send pictures, that would be even better.
