My power steering makes a whinning noise, but it turns well and easy, like there is no problem. What would be the reason for the noise?

It is possibly low on fluid, or has been low and has air trapped in it. Your best bet, check the fluid level, if it is low add fluid. Start the car, and if you have noise and see bubbles(foam) in the fluid shut it down and let it rest. Raise the front wheels and turn them back and forth lock to lock, without running, about 25 times. Restart and check for bubbles/foam. You are trying to purge the air out, and every time it runs with air, it emulsifies.
