Electrical problem
1993 Cadillac Deville Automatic 78000 miles

My windshield wipers continue running after the ignition is turned off, on my 1983 Cadillac Deville.
Is this normal?

Test 5, Wipers Do Not Turn Off Unplug 6-pin wiper motor connector. Turn ignition on. Set wiper switch to OFF position. Measure voltage at connector terminal "B" (Gray wire). See Fig. 2 . If voltage is zero volts, go to next step. If voltage exists, check for short to voltage on Gray wire. If wire is okay, replace wiper switch. 1. Unplug 3-pin wiper motor connector. Measure voltage at 3-pin connector terminal "A" (Purple wire). If voltage is zero volts, repair short to voltage in Yellow wire between 3-pin and 6-pin connectors. If voltage exists, check for short to voltage on Purple wire between 3-pin connector and switch. If wire is okay, replace wiper/washer switch. 2.
