The stoplights go on with the lights, but doesn't get brighter when the stop pedal is pressed

Does the high mount work, if so your switch is good. I would start with replacing both uppermost rear stop/tail bulbs. If the high mount don't work when the pedal is depressed, key on, you have other possibilities.
