It all depends on how serious you want a water leak to be, obviously it is not right. As far as what is causing it, it could be one of many things. The windshield, cowl area body seams, clogged evaporator drain. A fella I work with currently has the dash out of a CTS to seal where the hvac case splits, about a 10 hour(flat rate) job. Not to mention the carpet getting wet, possibility of mold/mildew. First step is to stop the carpet from getting wetter, and then getting access to see the point of entry. We use a shower head, or hose, and do alot of visual inspection and teardown for visual access.
