how do I change the rear wheel bearings

You have to get the rear spindle loose so you can remove the axle. Remove and hang the caliper, remove the rotor, disconnect the shock, the tie rod, and the lower control arm. This should allow the spindle to move enough to get the axle out. The bearing/hub is held with three(or maybe four) bolts. You are going to need a support stand and a jack to facilitate this in both disassembly and reassembly to get everything lined back up.
