i have replaced the starter and alternator and the security system light comes on and the car won't start. how can i reset the security system.

You probably did not need the starter, the fault lies in the security system. Most often the wires that run up the column to the ignition cylinder break, at the ignition cylinder. Replacement of the cylinder with new keys is the correct repair. You need to get the correct key value, there are 15 possibilities.
