There is a sensor located on the coolant tank. Then the radiator has two sensors. Is the sensor on the bottom of the radiator registering that there is a problem. We unplugged the top sensor on the radiator and the light still comes on. We also unplugged the sensor on the overfill coolant tank and the light comes on.

if the sensor is unplugged then the light will definitely be on.. the low coolant sensor is the one on the bottom of the overflow reservoir.
