Friend changed the water pump on 87 Caddy Brougham Fleetwood. When all the belts were put on starting it the A/C. Belt squealed very loud. Belt was tight. Is it too loose or too tight? Also worked for 8 hours first day with hood up, second day 3 hours but then would not turn over, but lights worked. Would the hood light cause the battery to drain? Thank you!

Hi there,

check that there is not to much deflection in the belt, it may be a bit loose, re charge the battery and get it load tested, if it is a bit down on condition, the bonnet light may well cause it do go flat in this time frame.

Thanks Mark. He replaced all 4 belts and the belt seemed tight. The A/C compressor would not make noise like belt squealing would it? If the squealing would stop could drive around and charge the battery
Thanks again
