Is it necessary to use an original cadaletic converter when replacing the part? I found an aluminum one for 120.00 and mechanic suggests we need a 600.00 original. WHAT Is THE Difference?

In older vehicles you could get away with because they only had one oxygen sensor before the cat to monitor combustion. With newer cars they are a lot more precise. I would suggest going with the OEM replacement to be absolutely sure that it fixes the issue.
