Cable which travels over ignition switch

Cable which travels over ignition switch and has a swivel end attached near the rear of steering column. Is this used to allow the key to be removed only in reverse (manual)? If so, where and how is it attached? Please show me a picture of this if indeed it is what I am looking for. Thank you
