My wife has been driving my Kuga and it started having this smell of burnt rubber coming from bonnet, no smoke coming out. could it be problems with clutch or brakes burnt?

If no visual sign of a problem, then you best get to a mechanic and often we can determine what is burnt by the odor, something that comes with experience and not something that you can describe accurately, often the mechanics nose is an excellent diagnostic tool.
