1998 Buick Skylark clunking noise

After being stopped, when I let off the brakes, I hear a clunking noise. It does'nt do it all the time. I sense play in the pedal.

Hi:
There are several things that could cause the noise. Check front end components, ball joints, shock mounts and bushings, and make sure you don't have a loose brake caliper. Also, if it's just a click, it could be a brake pad sticking a little.
