1998 Buick Skylark car sputters

well i have a 98 buick skylark and it started sputtering but it does it every now and again like going up hills or when i hit the gas but it dont always do it when i hit the gas.i thought it may be the fuel pump but i need to be certain any leads would be great

Do you have a check engine light?

It won't hurt to check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel pump/also test the throttle position/MAF/MAP sensors-
