The "Check Gauge Light Came On"?

My Wife and I just bought this Car today 12.15.2007. And on the drive home today the "Check Gauge Light" came on. Which gage would it be talking about? Could you please give me a start of what gage's I should Check First? Thank you for your time and cooperation.

You have to go throw your gauges and check them coolant temp gauge volts --- oil fuel level.

Most of the time the engine will be overheating, the engine oil pressure will be low, or the alternator will not be charging, look at the gauges to see which one is having an issue.
