EGT light and Check engine light comes on. What causes this?

A check engine light comes on because the computer senses a change in temp or pressure or etc. An electrical problem a sensor usually when this is deteced the check engine light comes on

So what is the EGT trouble light on the dash telling me? What is the EGT?

Exhaust gas temp light, this means that a sensor is not reading the right temp which could mean the sensor is bad
