Transmission problem
1992 Buick Skylark Front Wheel Drive Automatic 166000 miles

It has a hard time starting, when it does, it either sputters for a minute and dies, or it rev's really high for a little bit. When driving, when I come to a stop, it's sound like the engine is reving really high as well. It seems to be running a bit hotter than normal, the battery and oil pressure gauge is also running higher than normal.

I do not know if it is a 4 or 6 cylinders, but it seem like it's alternator / or voltage regulator ,causing battery to overcharge,
good news is it may not be the transmission.
