Had to Slim Jim passenger door alarm started going off so I unplugged the battery because original keys came up missing. Got key code from GM so a lock smith could cut a new chipped key. I paid for the knew key was told how to program it only problem now since I unplugged the battery for a couple days security light will not come back on since I unplugged the battery everything lights up except the security light and I cannot program the new key with out that security light. I have tried everything left key in ignition in the on position hopping it would reset the security system, but nothing works because the original keys are lost and can't program the knew key without that security light on. Everyone complains they can't get it to shut off well I can't get it back on. Please help

Hi,

There is a chance the bulb has burned out. However, let's check a few things first. In the vehicle, I need you to check fuse 13 in the instrument cluster fuse box. See pic 1 below for fuse location.

When you check the fuse, also make sure there is power to and from it. Here is a link you may find helpful:

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

Hello, thank you for the info. I checked fuse 13 there was power to and from that fuse and the fuse was good. I checked all those fuses and they all lit up but two, and those two were good but no power to them those two were lights. Anyways still no security light. Everything else lights up except security light. There is a service engine soon light on that won't go out atleast it won't with unplugging the battery then it come back on well where do I go from here? I got a feeling I'm going to have to tow it to the dealer.

The check engine light may help. Have you tried scanning the computer for diagnostic trouble codes?

Here is a video showing how it's done. If you don't have a scan tool, see if a local parts store will lend one to you.

Let me know what you find.
