1999 Buick Riviera shorting out

different dash board lights starting coming on at different times battery was checked and is still good but the car just stops and then sme times will not start again without a jump. Today it wouldnt even go into gear. What might be wrong/

Have the battery and alternator load tested if okay start by testing the ignition switch
