My drivers side window will roll down but will not
roll back up.

Hello, maybe a problem with the window motor? Is the power window circuit breaker getting hot?

I don't know about that. I know my ex husband said their is a black part that wires go into in the door and that it controls the windows. I have no idea what that part is called. Do you?

Hi, if it is in the driver door, I call it, the master switch for the power windows. If the problem is the motor, replacing that switch won't help. Just my opinion.
