they say the booster is bad now?

After front pads were installed the brake travel or drop seems to be excessive before it hits friction pt. What might my problem be and possible solution. they say I have some motor oil contaminate in brake sys. and need new master cyl. and abs control & valve $2400 with labor. if i flush and put my own mstr cyl for $140 they say the booster is bad now what a bummer. Can you help me change it out?

Hi,

Replacing the power brake vacuum booster really isn't too hard. You will need to remove the brake master cylinder first. Once that is removed, you can then remove and replace the brake booster.

To start, you will need to remove the brake master cylinder. Here is a link that shows how to remove and replace one. Note, you will not need to disconnect any hydraulic lines. You just need to move it far enough away from the booster to remove it.

The directions for removal and replacement of the brake vacuum booster are listed in the attached pics below.

Once you have it back together, make sure there are no vacuum leaks between the engine and booster.
