2004 Buick Rendezvous speed control breaking

when going down hill the car speed up pass the point set by the speed controler (sc) i have to manual break (foot pedal) which drops out SC

Hi:
It's normal for that to happen. The speed control tells the engine how fast the car has to go, but it doesn't apply the brakes to slow it down. And if you car is an automatic, you're free wheeling down hill.
