Sometimes when I am turning the engine off, the key stops in the off position and will not move into the lock position, so I cannot remove the key. I may have to wait minutes or even hours before I can turn the key to the lock position. As far as I can tell, I am not doing anything differently on the times that the key will not turn. It may happen several times in a row and then work fine for a couple of days.

Try lubericating the tumbler where the key goes in. You can get specific lubericants at any parts store for tumblers.

Let me know if it helps.
