2003 Buick Regal bright head lights

2003 BUICK REGAL

When headlights are on high beams they will go off clicking to low beams and back to bright will bring them back on but will go off again. Local mechanic says its the multi function switch. but he did no trouble shooting

he is probably right. all controls run through that switch
