2002 Buick Regal cannot put car in gear

2002 Buick Regal Two Wheel Drive Automatic

We have a shift on the floor and we have trouble to press the release button on the shift and cannot get the car in gear. Sometimes if we press hard on the brakes it releases. Other times we let the car run for 10-15 minutes it will let us shift,

in order for your car to be shifted out of park , the brake pedal MUST be depressed . That releases the apt switch where you shifter is. It may be that teh switch in your console isn't getting any power. The first ting to check isbad fuses which is covered on this site on how to check fuses. Your car manual if you have one will tell where your fusebox is. if that doesn't work have apro look at it so you don't have to waste so much time trying to put it in gear.
