A friend recently had the Cat. Converter replaced. A aftermarket one was used. Now the check engine light stays on all the time. He has tried clearing all the codes. The vehicle has 104 thousand miles on it.
A GM dealer told him that if a aftermarket Cat. Is used this sometimes happens, and there is nothing that can be done about it.
Any truth to this?
Thanks for you help

That depends on the cat. If it was a direct replacement cat, probably not. If this was a one size fits all type cat or a non OEM type, then yes, it will command the SES lamp on.
