2000 Buick Regal How do I reset the ignition switch?

I recently got a new ignition, and now my car still will not start, a mechanic said I need to reset it. So how am I suppose to do that at home on my own time?

Will it crank over and start for a second? Is the anti-theft light on?
If so, crank it then just turn loose of the key (leave it on) for 10 minutes. Then turn it off for a few seconds. Do this a total of 3 times.
If that doesn't work crank the engine (same as before) but instead leave it for 15 minutres. (Once)
After either of these sequences the anti-theft (or security) light should change from blinking to on or on to off.
