2000 Buick Regal GS ...headlights sometime go completely out while driving, inconsistanty, also the panel lights blink erractically at dusk just before the nighttime headlights come on automatically. Once those lights come on , they stop blinking, or if you pull out the headlamp control switch. Daytime running lights are not coming on.
I wonder if this may also be causing a battery drain, the battery is now draining down every few days if the car has not been started.

Hello Kirk14 When looking carefully at all components related to the electrical problem, the BCM is at the center of the troubles. Module like the BCM have internal timers that either turn it off to put it into a "sleep mode," or power it down to a "standby mode" to reduce the parasitic power drain on the battery after a predetermined length of time when the key is turned off. If that does not happen when module is defective, battery will drain. Look at the diagram carefully, headlamp switch input, daytime running link, daytime running 5 V refs, and daytime running low ground, headlamp switch input, all exterior lamps off input, ambient light sensor are all regulated by the BCM. I have been looking into possible short to ground or power with separate battery drain issue, I find that least likely. (sending this diagram to your email)
