1999 buick regal, I started it up and when I took foot off brake to put into gear, the car stalled. We then put it in nuetral and it went, had to restart after hitting the brake again. Lucky I was 3 blocks from home, I had to restart it one more time and coasted home. It started a few hours later and continued fine. Now 1 week later, it was in my heated garage over night, It wouldn’t start in the morning. Again using it a few hrs. later. What could be wrong? I was a mechanic for 40 yrs, that is why I bought old cars, to be able to fix them myself. Now with the computers, you can't find the problem. I called around the first time it happened and they said if it isn’t doing now they can’t find the problem. That means we will get stuck somewhere and have to tow it in.

Has the check engine light ever been on? Also, when it wouldn't start, did you check to see if it was getting spark and fuel to the engine?

Let me know.
