On yesterday I was told my battery cable was corroded. At this time I am not experiencing any starting problems. Is this something that I should be concerner about immediately?

Yes, when a battery cable gets correded it could cause starting problem. You can use like in the old days coke a cola and pour it on the terminals the acid in the soda nutralizes the corrosion on the cables. or take the cables off and clean them with a brush or wire brush to get good contact.
