Engine Performance problem
1998 Buick Regal 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 3.8 liter V6 (No Turbor). The vehicle will start up but will not idle. I can hold the rpm's at about 900 and it will run fine. I can excelerate the engine up to 3000 rpm's and evrything seems to be fine. However, when you let off of the accelerator and the rpm's drops to about 800, the engine dies.

The check engine light is not on and there are no trouble codes stored in the computer. I went ahead and changed out the throttle position sensor thinking that may have been the cause. No such luck.

Any advise where to look or test to make is appriciated.

Clean out the idle air control valve and EGR valve and see what happens.
