1998 Buick Regal Dashboard lights wont work

1998 Buick Regal 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 70000+ miles

Ok. The dashboard lights in my car go out and that means the tailights go out as well right. Well anyways I just got them fixed about a day ago and now the lights dont work again. The mechanic that fixed it said it was because it was a fuse blown but then it stopped working again. So how do you fix this kind of problem. And is it possible to fix it on your own without a mechanic?

My dash lights also failed to work until recently (1999 buick regal) although it had no correlation to my tail lights). I just replaced the headlight switch and all returned to normal. Until I did that, I just mounted some LEDs to shine on the dash, but that didn't help using the radio at night.
