1997 Buick Regal trans goes into gear and won't move

I bought a car from a friend with a bad trans I. Thbacked it out of the driveway put it in drive and it hasn't moved since. The fluid doesn't smell burnt,and the fluid level doesn't change when it's running. I was told as I kinda suspected that the pump mite be bad . I havnt taken apart a frt wheel drive trans before only rear wheel drive. And not sure were to locate the pump without haveing to take apart more than I need to my wife really wants her car . Any help would be appreciated thanks

I would replace the transmission with a good used part, or a remanufactured transmission.
