1997 Buick Regal anti theft and key resistor problems

Had problems with resistor on ignition key. Bought new key car ran well no problems. 6 mo's later car want start. My mechanic says, tried everything he knows can only start car for short time. Said he by-passed security and no help. I still think resistor or wires to ignition faulty.
