Engine Mechanical problem
1995 Buick Regal 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

this car has been sitting for at least 8 years, it has less than 60K on the clock, father in law drove it to work mainly after purchase. less than 1 year after purchase 1/4 mi. from home he hears a noise (not a good one either) and for time conservation purposes, i open hood 1 day check dip stick. oil looks like it was changed yesterday(still does) ask again what happened when it got parked. took a qt of oil w/me and started the car up, sounded great for sitting 8yrs, except no oil being pumped to top of engine. the reason it was parked is b/c it had left a "oil slick" (wifes words) at a turn before the house for a "few days". engine bay looked like it has never seen oil, so i assumed the pan had a hole or whatever is why i checked oil level first. of course as mentioned before, looked new and full. What can it be besides the oil pump?

Hi there,

check the engine oil pressure with a mechanical gauger and get the actual pressure reading, post that there first.
