Brakes problem
1992 Buick Regal V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

A couple years ago I accidentally ran over a slab of blacktop. At first I thought my car was going to stop running, but it later started to work fine a few seconds later. A few months ago, my brakes started to lock up when I slam on them. I took my car to Hibdons and left it overnight. They called the next morning saying it had to do with a module of some sort. I forgot what they had called it. They called an hour later saying they fixed the problem. I went to pick it up and it worked pretty well for the first couple months. Today I was driving to work and my brakes locked up again. It rained the day before, so I don't know if driving through steep water would contribute to my brakes locking up. My question is, what is the name of this module part that I need and how much would it cost, including labor?

You didn't say if it's your front or rear brakes that are locking up.

If the car refuses to steer when the brakes lock, then it's your fronts. If you can still steer in any direction, or if the back end tries to turn, it's your rears.

If you have rear drum brakes, then it's possible that the "Proportioning valve" has failed, though that is rare.

Also, if you have drum brakes and you drive through standing water, they can lock up on heavy braking applications until the water has drained.

Finally, uneven brake wear, front or back, can make your brakes "GRAB", which will feel as though they're locking up on you.
