1987 Buick Regal engine stalls

recently engine started stalling my mechanic worked on this problem many hours, the carb is in good shape, he suspects the vacuum is causing the problem and mentioned that this engine type was one of the last with a carb. and has computer doing some functions of the carb.

Has he checked manifold vacuum pressure? Was it low? Did he check fuel pump pressure / volumn?
