2004 Buick Ranier V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

hello. my daughters dash fuel gauge operates very irratic,and the check engine light comes on.the dealer said it is a bad fuel card......computer??? at the cost of $400.00. is this true, and if so can i repair it myself.ps the car is do inspection this mo.

What do you mean by erratic fuel gauge operations? Can you please explain the symptoms in detail?
