Recent mechanical work entailed taking off oil pan to check for a small leak on our garage floor. Following repair allegedly having to do with oil sending unit, while highway driving the alarm went off and soon after the oil light came on. We knew the oil and filter had just been done, but checked oil level and found it "full."
Mechanic rechecked car and told us he had adjusted the oil pressure and thought previously it had been "turned down too lean" following repair. He added that he had replaced the oil sensor, and did not charge us for these adjustments.
Driving about three, four miles from his shop the alarm went off again, with the oil light coming on - primarily when slowing for a stoplight/sign and pressing the gas to gain speed from the complete stop. Also, the alarm bonged and light came on if you did a highway curve or right/left turn. The mechanic is not our usual GM dealership, who has gotten too expensive for us to afford easily.
The engine light has been re-coded probably six times and does not stay off long. Local Cadillac/Buick dealership thought maybe a fuel line air hole, but a smoke test did not prove that to be true. A new GM gas tank cover did not cure the problem either.
We love this car and did not want to get rid of it. We take very good care of it and it is garaged most of the time at home. If you can tell us how to pamper and repair her, we will be most grateful.
