how do you remove the starter there is a plastic cover covering the back bolt

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Raise the vehicle and support safely.
Disconnect the wiring from the starter.
Remove the flywheel shields.
Remove the starter retaining bolts and remove the starter from the engine.
To install:

Position the starter against the engine and install the bolts. Torque to 35 ft. lbs. (47 Nm).
Connect the starter wiring.
Install the flywheel shields.
Lower the vehicle and connect the negative battery cable.
Check the starter for proper operation
