1992 Buick Park Avenue Brakes are spongy

Sometimes when you push down they are there just fine, other times you have to push almost to the floor. I have checked the fluid and it is full. What could be wrong?

If the brake fluid is full, and is not contaminated with oil or power steering fluid, then the master cylinder could be on the way out. Many people put the wrong fluid into the master...
