I would like to know what would cause the the car not to turn over with out being jumped by the cylionoid of the starter, and why the fuel pump will not turn on? Also I the back lights are staying on even with the battery disconected. I am looking for anyone who might have any helpful ideas and it's not the fuel pump relay either. I can't figure out why one day it was running fine now its not turning over and the fuel pump isn't coming on?

If it cranks when you jump the solenoid and not from the key, then the starter and battery are good. Is the security light staying on? If not, chances are the problem is in the ignition switch itself.

AS far as the tail lights staying on with the battery disconnected, that I can't explaine. The battery is the only power source. Without it, nothing should work.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Joe

I just went through the same thing. It was the VATs security system. The resistor chip in the key. There is a cheap easy and fast solution. It worked great. Car started up right away. I went through alot of unneeded frustration and bought alot of unneeded car parts before I learned of this. Go to www. Likeabigdog. Com click on the link for security systems. Every 1991-1996 buick park ave has either a PASSkey II or VATs security system. Good luck
