Power window

V8 all wheel drive automatic 46,000 miles.

The power window on the driver side suddenly does not go up. It goes down without a problem, but going up, it goes a few inches then stops. Is this an easy fix and what would be a reasonable cost to fix?

Hello,

To better assist you is your model the CX, CXL or CXS and what is your engine size in liter.

Also, apparently this may throw a code so please go to Auto Zone (AZ) or O'Reilly's (OR) and for free they can pull the codes to the car. Most important: Once they check your codes, if they find something and you do not get it fixed and need to get back with us, please make sure you tell us exactly what the code was, number and all. Example, if the code was E0568 O2 sensor bad. Then make sure you give us all of that. While there for free also they can bring their tester out and check your battery and alternator.

Went to Auto Zone and no codes came up, everything checked out okay. I have the 2007 CXS with the 4.6L Northstar V8 engine.

Hello,

Not too much directions but I would say your window motor is bad, once you remove the door panel unplug the motor and ground on pin on the motor put twelve volts on the other, then reverse them. if it struggles moving it up with twelve volts right to the motor then the motor is bad.

Look at the cable system really good, see if all is in track. It is better to replace the motor and regulator even though sometimes you can get just the motor. The cable is just as worn and will go out too. so replace both as they come already together.

The directions are to remove the door panel:

Water deflector

Motor and regulator bolts.

Make sure you brace the window up so it does not free fall down.

My estimates are below. you can check with your local parts store like AutoZone etc., and see if they have the part. It may be cheaper to do it yourself.

Hello,

Also, it looks like you may have a recall on your vehicle. The dealer may fix this for free. Please contact the dealer service department, give them the VIN number of your car and have them check on this to see if it applies to you.
