89 lesabre A/T won't shift after CV joint replacement

I have a 1989 Buick Le Sabre with 180,000, an automatic transmission, 3.8 ltr engine. I replace the driver side cv joint, now the transmission will only go into reverse and first gear. it will not shift out of first. I serviced the transmission with new filter and fluid but still will only shift into reverse and first. Please help.

I CANT SEE A CONNECTION
IF ALL LINKS IN PLACE AND NOTHING OUT OF PLACE
YOU MAY NEED A TRANNY REBUILT

think its got a vacuum modulator and if they get on plugged for some reason like when you changed the cv joint it may not shift.
