2004 Buick Lesabre 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 80000+ miles

my speedometer does not go to 0 when i stop . it stays around 80-90 mph when i stop. it just started this ,and it does not register properly.

The first thing to check is the vehicle speed sensor, but if the needle is not coming back down to zero, I would suspect the speedo head is faulty.
