I recentlly hit a large pothole on the highway and sinse that happened my transmission slips on take-off only when the car is cold, when the car warms up it seems fine and after it gets rolling it seems fine. Can you think of anything under the car that may have been damaged to cause this problem or is this a more serious transmission issue?

It is hard to say without an inspection.

Did you feel the trans impact the road?

Could also be an electrical connector that is broke/loose.

In any case, it is better to get repaired ASAP, as slipping only gets worse.
