After inserting the key, the key does not turn to either the start position or the accessory position. after jiggling several times and reinserting the key it will usually start. This occurs also when different keys are used. Does the switch require lubrication ?. If so what kind ?

unless the key's you are using are worn out it's usually a sign of bad ignition cylinder.
