Does the radiator need refilling after changing out the catalytic converter. I just had my changed out and on the way home the car overheated. As it turned out there was no water in the radiator.

Two completely different systems. The catalytic converter is in the exhaust system. The only possibility would be if a heater hose had to be disconnected to move it out of the way for the exhaust work, but that is not likely. That shouldn't have caused loss of so much coolant that the engine would overheat.
