car is running fine then the temp gage goes all the way up and the oil pressure goes all the way down. i did not let the car run hot and waited for it to cool before driving. the oil level is good and the water was a little low. i had the starter and battery checked.any ideas?

Either rent an oil pressure test gauge, or have a shop test it for you, check oil level and make sure it reads full on the stick. Do not continue to drive it....this is a must check situation! If you hear ANY unusual noises turn the engine off IMMEDIATLY! If the pressure test is OK then you will need to check both sending units, and if they are ok, test or replace the instrument cluster...
