Hey I have a 1997 buick lesabre and recently at around 45mph to 55mph the car would stumble ( cough up) on me so I took it to the shop the nuts at the shop said it was my spark plug cables ( not the plugs) and crank sensor that was the problem. O.K fine had the car for about a week now and the car still shakes a little at 40 to 50mph and when stopped at a light car shakes a liitle. Now the nut at the shop says its the fuel pump he said its lazy? What. Can anyone please help

Possible Causes of Engine Hesitation or Stumble:

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires
